Whilst recovering from a heart attack Fleming wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for his son Casper. As with most children’s books it is difficult to find copies in good condition that have not been price clipped.Editions and pricing variants found with this artwork
As few children could afford to buy the hardback (10'6d in 1964 is equivalent to about £10 / $15 in 2015) most copies were given as gifts by adults to children. As such finding copies that have not been price clipped is more difficult for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang than other Fleming titles.
